Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese form of bodywork that involves applying pressure to specific points on the body. In Japanese, "shiatsu" translates to "finger pressure."
The technique is based on principles of traditional Chinese medicine and designed to balance energy flow throughout the body. In Shiatsu, I will use hands and fingers to apply rhythmic pressure on various acupressure points, along with stretches and joint rotations, to promote relaxation, reduce stress, activate the body's self-healing potential, and improve overall health and well-being.
Shiatsu is often used to treat conditions like muscle tension, headaches, back pain, and fatigue. It’s also a popular therapy for stress reduction and promoting relaxation. The treatment is typically done on a mat on the floor, and the person receiving the shiatsu massage stays fully clothed. Loosely fitted clothes are recommended.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue massage is a more remedial way to support key tension areas. It builds on a holistic massage technique whereby the muscles are warmed up before applying additional pressure and techniques to work more deeply into the tissues. Various skin-rolling, deeper pressure, and trigger point work are used to open up areas of tension.

The benefits vary, from pain relief in case of muscle injuries or tension, such as in the neck or shoulders, to increased flexibility, reduced muscle tightness, and overall greater awareness of one's body.
The massage uses oil.

Thai massage
Thai Massage is a traditional form of massage that combines elements of acupressure, assisted stretches, and yoga-like movements. These are done to help improve flexibility, mobility, circulation, stress relief, and muscle relaxation.

In Thai Massage, hands, thumbs, elbows, knees, and feet apply pressure to specific points along the body’s energy lines, similar to acupressure. It is a dynamic, interactive massage done on a mat on the floor.
The person receiving a Thai Massage will stay fully clothed. Loosely fitted clothes are recommended.
Pregnancy Massage
Well Mother Pregnancy Massage is available throughout pregnancy, from the first trimester to six months after birth. This type of massage is an all-embracing approach that includes elements of Shiatsu, Swedish massage, or manual therapy. As with every style I offer, it is perhaps more key during pregnancy that the treatment is tailored to your needs. Attention to the growing belly with massage techniques can help relieve the diaphragm or lower ribs, but also have bonding time whilst you both relax, or it can be left out.

You can choose between being clothed on the futon, which makes the treatment more like Shiatsu, or using oil, which allows for a more pronounced combination of classic massage and Shiatsu.

Chair Massage
The Chair Massage I offer is a Shiatsu-based style performed on an ergonomically suitable chair, focusing mainly on the upper body. This style is offered in a work environment, and it can help with posture and circulation and increase body awareness. If you or your company is interested, please email me. The duration of this type is typically between 15 and 25 minutes.
